The sign in Campoverde Church garden has changed and reads, “God recycles, He made you from dust”.
Choosing a sign with a “green” message was no mistake. Maggie Dew from Campoverde Church said, “Obviously we are all in favour of taking good care of God’s creation but we have a particular interest in “green” issues this week. First of all on Sunday was our Harvest Festival.
This gave us the opportunity to not only thank God for everything He has done for us but to show our gratitude in a practical way by giving some of the many things we have to those who are not as fortunate as us.” Members of the congregation brought donations of non-perishable items to the Harvest Festival service and these were distributed to the poor and needy the next day.The other reason to be focusing on “green” issues is that on Monday October 16 two of the congregation are travelling to London for the “Green Church Awards” ceremony. Campoverde Church garden was nominated and then shortlisted for this hotly contested international “green” award and the winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. Campoverde Church decided to enter the garden so loved by local people and lovingly created by them as a Church/Community exercise. Watch out for the results here!
And the garden isn’t wasted as a local resource. Next Sunday, October 15, the Church is holding its annual Pet Thanksgiving service in the garden. Bring along your pets for their very own service and special blessing….please contain in a suitable container if appropriate! The poster gives full details.
