Mojácar has recently received the Family Tourism Seal, a quality guarantee handed out by the Federación Española de Familias Numerosas (FEFN) to award and promote tourist establishments and destinations that are firmly committed to the family sector. Last week, at an official event at the Town’s Salón de Plenos, the FEFN president Celia Rodríguez-Hesles, presented the certificate to Mojácar’s Mayor, Rosmari Cano.
This makes Mojácar the first destination in Andalucía to receive the Family Tourism Seal, marking it as a top destination for families, although there is already a local complex with the Seal, as among the 29 Pierre & Vacances resorts that are endorsed, one in the chain is on Mojácar Playa.
The Mayor expressed her delight at receiving the accolade at the ceremony, which is the culmination of 14 years of work, directing many of the Town’s tourist activities towards this sector. This came, as she said “despite going through difficult times” and, having to apply rules to eliminate botellón or street drinking tourism.
The Mayor went on to praise Mojácar Tourist Office’s work, which along with its website, gives visiting families all the information they need on activities as well as guidance on every eventuality that may crop up on a holiday. She went on to thank the Servigroup, Best and Golf Resort Marina de la Torre hotels, for their collaboration by offering economic packages and enticing entertainment programmes.
The President of the FEFN stressed the fact that Mojácar is the first destination in Andalucía to obtain the Seal of Family Tourism, which she said was “undoubtedly a source of pride for the Association who will continue working to offer locations where families are able to have time for rest, tourism and leisure where they really feel that their needs are being met” adding that this is certainly the case at Mojácar. She also was sure that this certification would certainly “benefit the Town”.
The Family Tourism Seal was launched by the FEFN in 2013 to commend destinations or accommodation, as well as other companies and activities that focus on family tourism and set out to attract them when making their holiday plans. The FEFN, together with tourism consultant DNA Expertus, has certified that the catering, gastronomy, accommodation and activities in Mojácar, as well as the beaches, makes the perfect setting for family holidays with full facilities for children.
In February 2015, the FEFN signed an agreement with the Secretary of State for Tourism, which among other things, recognized the Seal as a ‘Club de Producto de Turismo’. Now, with Mojácar’s certification, more than hundred tourist organizations have already received this guarantee, from locations to all types of accommodation, through to museums, companies offering coastal and inland pastimes, cruises, travel agencies etc., of which more than twenty are in the process of certification. Through this, the FEFN locates and promotes these entities and destinations once it has been shown that they meet the requirements of Family Tourism, so creating a wider selection of quality, orientated to families.
