An out of control car has caused damage to two terraces on C/Vicente Blasco Ibáñez in Torrevieja this afternoon just before 1pm.
The vehicle had previously collided with another car at the intersection of C/ la Radio Murcia.
Fortunately there were only two people sitting on the terrace who managed to get away unharmed. The only injury was that of the driver who was suffering from nervous exhaustion and minor cuts. He was treated at the scene by paramedics from SAMU.
As the vehicle drove through the terrace of a Turkish restaurant and a Scandinavian coffee shop it scattered tables and chairs across the road and pavements
The two customers who were sat at tables enjoying their afternoon coffee were able to get out of the way of the vehicle.
Immediately after the accident two patrols of the Local Police were quickly on the scene, where they were able to quickly restore order.
The two terraces are situated on a corner at a junction that is very exposed to traffic.
The ordinance allows for the occupation of the areas outside both establishments with a terrace, one of the main complaints of the hotel industry which they say is costing them trade.
