The AAN Charity based in La Marina have been very busy this week.
One of the ladies, Chris Smith has recently been given the all clear for Breast Cancer. She said that to celebrate, she would like to have a pink ribbon tattooed somewhere upon on her person. I (Brenda) decided it might be a good idea to make it a sponsored event and raise some money for the cancer unit at Torrevieja Hospital where she had her treatment.
Another friend Ann, announced that she too would support Chris and have a pink ribbon tattoo. The very brave ladies approached Steve Denning the tattoo artist in La Marina for his help.
As this was a fund raising event he very kindly did both tattoos for free therefore ensuring that every cent could be donated to the Oncology Unit at the hospital. Chris and Ann would like thank family and friends for their very generous donations.
On Wednesday 20th September the ladies handed over 552 euros which was received by Dr. Salinas Carrasco, Medical Director, Dr. Toral Peña, Oncology Head of Service and Dra. Gonzalez Rival, Medical Oncologist.
Monday the 18th September we held our Race Night at Jacks Bar in La Marina to who we say a very big thank you. Thank you also to Kevin for providing all the necessary electrical gadgetry, which is totally beyond me.
The people that sponsored the eight races were as follows:- Ian at U.K. Supplies Direct, Michelle at Strand hair salon, Steve the Entertainer, Steve at Plaza 39, Gary at Jacks Bar, Colin and Dee of Preeva Jewellery, Maria and Rafal of Cafeina Vintage Café, Mandy of Fancy One (e cigs) in La Marina
The evening was a great success and raised over 450 euros towards food for the needy. Thank you to everyone that came along on the evening and spent lots of money.
Our next event will be our Autumn Fashion Show on October the 27th which will be held at Plaza 39 in La Marina. Entrance is free so come along and bag yourself a very stylish bargain.
