Well the ‘Summer shoe appeal’ was finally concluded last week when Stevie Spit handed over 100 brand new pairs of shoes to the Directors of the Elche Children’s Home, Alfonso, and San Jose Obrero Orphanage, Vicente.
All of the shoes were made for the children individually by a shoe factory in Elche. They were all made of leather and what we adults like to call ‘sensible shoes’ especially for the children to wear in school.
With a generous public donation of 25 euros per pair Stevie was able to purchase rather more than the 100 pairs originally intended, as a result of which a number of the children actually received two pairs of shoes.
Stevie told the Leader “Each pair actually had the child’s name on so they know they were made especially for them and were not just a random gift. The Shoes are Beautiful I’m overjoyed at the result. I would like so very much to thank everyone that was involved in the appeal, especially Help at Home Costa Blanca who actually provided 50% of the funding. The two Directors and the children were overwhelmed.”
Eileen Gleave accompanied Stevie to Orihuela for the handover of the shoes where she said “It was a pleasure to see you hand over the shoes. You should be extremely proud of yourself. All the hard work has paid off.”
As Stevie’s charitable exploits continue he has now moved his weekly charity market, which also supports the two orphanages, to the Emerald Isle where it is held every Wednesday from 10am until late afternoon.
His next big event is next Sunday in Villamartin where he will be hosting ‘Party in the Plaza’, where he is supporting two special causes, Tasha, a very special young lady who lives with us here in Spain and who has contracted the very rare disease “mitochondrial” and the Zwan Family Charity in Afghanistan who he helps every year. This is another amazing Charity that helps war torn kids in Afghanistan to get complete medical treatment and anything required. This is truly a miracle charity.
After that Stevie moves on to Benidorm on Sunday 8th October where his 2017 Variety Show will be raising funds for the Royal British Legion in Spain and the AECC through The PInk Ladies. More information on that event can be found on page 17.
So dig out your glad rags and your loose change and join Stevie and his gang in Villamartin Plaza from noon on Sunday, and then again in Benidorm on October 8th in support of four amazing causes.
