A 59-year-old woman died this morning (Saturday) in a traffic accident on the CV-91, the road linking Guardamar del Segura with Orihuela.
The accident, involving two cars and a tractor, occurred at 7.10 am in the hamlet of La Campaneta
In addition to the deceased, two people suffered injuries that needed medical assistance. One of the injured, a 53-year-old man, suffered severe bruising while the other was suffering from chest pains. Both were transferred to the Hospital Vega Baja de Orihuela for examination and further treatment.
The CV-91 was closed for just over an hour while the emergency services dealt with the injured and removed the wrecked vehicles.
Witnesses say that one of the two cars collided with the tractor which, due to the effect of the blow, then overturned the other car.
The corpse was transferred to the Anatomical Institute of Alicante where an autopsy will be carried out.
