Daya Nueva 5 v. Grupo Caliche Horadada 2
Daya started well and had the advantage of a very strong wind behind them.
Caliche we’re finding it difficult to get out of their half as the home side kept them under constant pressure. On thirteen minutes, from a free kick Braulio had a good headed effort saved by the Caliche keeper.
The visitors were beginning to put together a few good moves and the game was becoming more even, although Daya still carried the greater goal threat. The home side had many chances to open the scoring and if you had to bet on who it would be my money would be on Braulio to score first. I would have lost as on thirty three minutes it was Moya that hit a cross field shot that beat the keeper all ends up for 1-0 Daya.
It was 2-0 on forty minutes when Fernando turned the ball home from close range. So 2-0 at the break with Daya in complete control. Daya made a number of changes for the second period, the coach Juan Pedro, wanting to give most of his squad some match time. Caliche also did the same with their squad.
It was the visitors now with the wind behind them that started the stronger in the second half. They had the ball in the Daya net but it was ruled out for offside. Still Caliche kept pressing and creating chances giving Daya’s defence plenty to think about. On seventy minutes a long ball out of the visitors defence caught Daya’s back line flat footed leaving an opposing forward the easiest of chances to reduce the deficit.
So 2-1 and Caliche were back in he game. On seventy five minutes Daya were awarded a free kick some way out, up stepped Fernando and with a great strike scored his second goal and Daya’s third. Just two minutes later Rocamora made it 4-1 Daya and the game was effectively over for the visitors.
It became 5-1 just moments later with a well taken goal by Josema. The visitors hit back straight from the kick off with a well worked goal making it 5-2. So in the space of just six minutes we had been treated to four goals !
There were no further goals and at 5-2 Daya were comfortable winners of the Fiesta Trophy. So a good start for new coach, Juan Pedro. The Match official had an excellent game, he kept up with play and was spot on with his decisions. The new season starts in two weeks time, bring it on.
