Ferrovial and Renault have sealed a deal to launch a car sharing service in Madrid.
The project, known as Zity, will begin to run in October and will have a fleet of 500 Renault Zoe electric cars. The Renault Zoe has a maximum coverage of 400km before it needs to be refueled but with traffic conditions in the capital, the vehicles will more likely need to be recharged after 300km.
This is the third such initiative with Mercedes and Citroen already running their smart cars in the City.
As various countries try to reduce their carbon emissions and reduce the reliance on fuel-guzzling vehicles, this experiment could have wide-reaching financial implications for manufacturers looking to win customers in the future.
