The ‘II Torneo de Golf Villa de Mojácar’ was recently held at the Marina Golf Course at Marina de la Torre, when around fifty players enjoyed a day of play with spectacular Mediterranean views.
It was a Stableford competition, the most common in club tournaments, as it allows a freer game in which the golfer can “pick up” their ball when all their available strokes for the hole have been taken.
In the second category, established by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and made up of players with a handicap over 18, the top two were Karyn Expósito and José Alonso Nistral, both from the Marina Mojácar Golf Club.
Top in the first category, with handicaps between 0 and 18, were Jeónimo Tara de Miguel, from the Club de La Envía and Gustavo Penno Taboada, from Desert Springs Golf Club. The day’s Scratch trophy went to Rodriguez Gutierrez, from Madrid’s Lomas Golf Club. As usual there were prizes for the longest drive and the nearest ball.
Councillor for Sports, Ana García, awarded trophies to the winners, along with the Manager of Marina Golf. Ana thanked all the players for taking part in the second edition of the Villa de Mojácar Tournament, as well as inviting them to take up the challenge again next summer for which more new features are planned.
The day of tough competition ended in good spirits with Ana drawing the ever popular prize raffle, providing a bit of fun to close an intense day.
