The Orihuela Councillor for Environment, Miguel Angel Fernandez, said he was delighted that Hidraqua were able to replace the sewerage system in Calle San Juan and San Gregorio before the start of school year, so that when schools reopen the roads will be back to normal.
The work, which first got underway in June, was carried out by Hidraqua costing 149,113 euros from the Sewer Renewal Fund. Fernandez visited the site last week along with local manager Juan Jose Alonso. He said they they had been able to carry out the renewal on time, and avoiding major inconvenience to the residents of the area.
The outmoded sewerage network was first installed over 30 years ago with much of the pipework eroded due to the continuous passage of sewage. The new pipework will vastly improve the system in 65 residential homes.
